Fees can be calculated in a number of different ways depending on the type and complexity of the project. At Onyx we establish the appropriate fees based, not on value for money but, on value for design.
There are different methods that can be used depending on the scope of works and the client.
Fixed Lump Sum: a fixed fee based on an assessment of a well-defined project, usually quoted for domestic work.
Percentage: a fee based on a percentage of the build cost figure estimated at the start and fixed by the final account at the end of the project.
Hourly Rates: a suitable fee if the scope of work or level of our involvement is difficult to determine at the outset.
Additional fees are sometimes required to support the building warrant application. These fees can come from specialist certifiers such as your structural engineer.
Allowing for this in the budget can help to avoid unexpected costs.
Submission fees payable to the council based on the cost of works can be found on the Edevelopment Website.
